Caring for the frontline

As the global landscape continues to reshape itself before our eyes, the importance of having a comfortable, safe, and clean place to call home has never been more vital.

This notion rings especially true for the hundreds of thousands of essential workers who continue to make hard choices on the frontlines of the global health crisis and at home.

Whether you’re the nurse who just worked a Day 12 or the lineman working to ensure that your community can stay connected to their loved ones, going back home after a long day might not be an option at this point.

That's where each of our 55 locations can best care for their community’s frontline today. We know that having the touches of home, away from home, can make a big difference. In addition to the high standards that make My Place yours, each room is equipped with the essentials for staying as long or as little as you like.

Making the best use of our facilities, there are many ways My Place Hotels are stepping up by offering direct support to first responders and medical personnel.

In Texas, our franchise partners at KAMP Hotels, LLC. recently made national headlines after announcing they would allocate rooms for healthcare professionals. The rooms were made available to book for free and at steeply discounted rates as availability permits at their My Place Hotels in Amarillo and Lubbock.

KAMP Principal Kevin Nelson believes it is vital to be vigilant in taking care of medical professionals on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.

“We’re seeing a trend across the nation of healthcare workers who need to be isolated as they make amazing sacrifices in order to take care of us,” Nelson said. “We have clean, comfortable rooms, which all have kitchens, where these heroes can come rest and relax after caring for our community all day.”

In the same vein, the My Place Hotel in Carson City, Nevada has continued to support medical professionals and visitors through its partnership with the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. Before opening as the area's first extended stay hotel, the Carson City team reached out to learn how they could support the nearby hospital. Celebrating the partnership at both its milestone groundbreaking and grand opening ceremonies, the team has since worked to provide a touch of home for medical personnel and visitors alike.

My Place Hotel-Carson City, NV’s General Manager Steve Kehm sees great value in being in a position to give back and provide essential workers with a clean and comfortable place to call home.

“The medical personnel staying at our property from Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center continue to commend the brand’s cleanliness standards,” he said. “One of my favorite quotes from William Shakespeare has never been more relevant: ‘The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away’ and I couldn’t agree more. We feel our gift is helping people feel at ease during these difficult times and providing hospitality.”

Kehm and the Carson City Team’s ability to give back and do what’s right has made quite the impact on the community of Carson City’s medical professionals according to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Director of Community Partnerships & Legacy Amy Hyne-Sutherland.

“From the moment My Place opened in Carson City, they have reached out in every way to support our caregivers, patients, and community,” Hyne-Sutherland said. “From support for our Carson Tahoe Health Community Fund at their ribbon-cutting ceremony to offering special rates for our caregivers and patients, they have been wonderful partners. A big, sincere THANK YOU from all of us at Carson Tahoe Health!”
