My Place celebrated not one, but two groundbreaking ceremonies on Wednesday, January 17 — one for a hotel in Bentonville, AR and one in Pooler, GA. While the team clearly picked the colder of the two cities in which to celebrate (Bentonville was a whopping 23 degrees when the My Place team arrived on site), the low temperature couldn't dampen the celebration as members from the TGC Group, My Place Corporate, the City of Bentonville, and the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce gathered to commemorate the occasion.
The Hype Coffee Co. truck kept hands and mouths thawed as the group heard from Debbie Griffin, Director of Administration for the City of Bentonville; Nick Esterline, President and Founder of TGC Group; Ryan Rivett, President and CEO of My Place Hotels; and Leslie McClure, President of Hospitality at TGC Group. The consistent sentiment across the board was an alignment in values between the ownership of the properties and My Place Hotels.
"When we were looking to expand our portfolio, something that helped solidify that this was the right fit for us was we felt like we were joining a family. We call ourselves the TGC Family, and they told us we were joining the My Place Family, so it just made sense."
The 63- (Bentonville) and 64- (Pooler) key hotels are part of a multi-development agreement between My Place and TGC Group, who plan to develop nine My Place hotels over the next several years. MPHOA is extremely excited about TGC's part in continuing to grow the brand's footprint and can't wait to see what the future holds for this partnership.
In addition to celebrating two properties at once, it shouldn't be understated that this will be the first My Place Hotel to open in Arkansas, and will bump up My Place's presence into 30 states across the country. There are two Arkansas projects in the works, but Bentonville is slated to open its doors first in the fall of 2024. As the My Place brand continues to expand into new markets, it's reassuring to receive such warm welcomes from the communities they're entering.
