First in Florida - My Place Hotel-Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda, FL Now Open!

As the My Place Hotels family continues to grow, we're proud to celebrate another exciting milestone: our first hotel in the Sunshine State. The grand opening of My Place Hotel-Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda, FL marked more than just the opening of a new property; it was a celebration of community, partnership, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for My Place Hotels in Florida. 

Legacy Development, LLC began preparing the site in 2022, with construction officially underway in 2025. Designed by The Richardson Design Partnership and Legacy Design Group, the hotel incorporates a flat roof that supports storm resistance and efficiency while complementing the modern My Place prototype. The property is owned by PCMP 23, LLC and managed by Legacy Management, LLC.

Earlier this August, guests gathered to tour the hotel, enjoy refreshments and food, and celebrate alongside local leaders, business partners, and members of the community before the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. One of the most memorable moments of the afternoon wasn't just the ribbon cutting; it was seeing the Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda communities come together to celebrate a shared accomplishment.

Although each community has its own unique identity, the opening of My Place Hotel-Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda represents an investment that will serve visitors, business travelers, families, and local organizations throughout the entire area. The excitement and support shown by community members on both sides made it clear that this hotel is more than a place to stay; it's another connection between two thriving communities.

"Opening this hotel is our own kind of endurance event. We have a finish line in sight, but getting there requires teamwork, patience, preparation, and a willingness to tackle every challenge together. My job as General Manager isn’t simply managing a hotel. It’s to build a team that is proud of where they work, proud of the service they provide, and proud of the impact they have on every guest who walks through our doors. Every guest is going to have a different reason for being here. Some will be traveling for business. Some will be visiting families. Some may be here for a vacation or a special event. Whatever brings them to our hotel, I want them to leave feeling that they were welcomed, appreciated, and genuinely cared for. 

And I want this hotel to become more than just another place to stay. I want us to become part of this community. We have an incredible opportunity here in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. We have the opportunity to support local businesses, welcome visitors, build relationships, and become a hotel that this community is proud to have.

So today, as we cut this ribbon, I don’t just see the opening of a hotel. I see the beginning of a journey. Today is our starting line. And I couldn’t be more excited to take that first step!"
