Welcome to Plainfield!

On a trip to Indiana to celebrate the Grand Opening of the state’s first and America’s 53rd My Place Hotel, we underscored the value of relationships in the charming town of Plainfield at the property’s grand opening celebration on December 11th.

A not so small town, Plainfield is minutes from Downtown Indianapolis, while being known for its proximity to the Indianapolis International Airport and as a prominent stop along the National Road (US 40).

As the ultimate conclusion to a booming 2019 that was marked by record-breaking strides in brand-wide growth and franchise development, ending our year of events in Plainfield felt just right. For a rapidly-growing town in the middle of so much activity, Plainfield has managed to preserve a culture that feels much like home to us.

That feeling was naturally amplified at Plainfield’s own My Place Hotel. If the staff were any indication of the experience their guests would receive, it was clear that Team Plainfield’s are in fantastic hands.

From the moment we arrived at Plainfield’s newest hotel, we were greeted by the warm smiles and bright personalities that fill the roster. Touring their hotel, complemented with My Place’s generation 2 updates, we were reminded that the people who provide and produce the guest experience are just as proud of our product as we are.

Grand openings also present wonderful opportunities for us to take in many genuine first impressions from diverse communities all at once. As the event neared, the lobby was filled with ‘oos’ and ‘ahhs’ escaping from the clusters of attendees who were stepping foot in a My Place Hotel for the first time.

Starting off the ribbon cutting ceremony, Plainfield Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brad DuBois provided us with a warm welcome to the community of Plainfield, which was followed by a few words from Town Council President, Robin Brandgard.

Making it clear that Plainfield is accustomed to growth and development, Robin concluded with his favorite phrase:

"The sun is always shining on Plainfield."

Then our own President and CEO, as well as our franchisee, brought it all home by elaborating on the brand’s story as well as their own.

“The model hits a very targeted part of the hotel industry,” said My Place Hotel-Plainfield, IN owner Jim Devoe Jr., who also comes from a rich legacy of franchising and family-owned businesses. “Ryan Rivett’s vision for the future is something we want to be a part of.

"The Grand Opening of the new My Place Hotel in Plainfield is a culmination of a lot of planning and hard work," he continued. "While management’s dedication to service and operations makes this all worthwhile, my partners and I are very confident in the My Place Franchise.

As we look back at this event and into the future of our relationships formed in Plainfield, we asked Ray Tapnio to share what excites him most as an investor.

“I’m impressed by the totality of all the subtle, well-thought-out details put into the guest rooms,” Tapnio said. “The generous room size, ergonomic furnishings, convenience of appliances, and build quality all rival higher-end hotel brands, but at a much more competitive rate for the business traveler or vacationer. This mid-scale, extended-stay brand punches above its weight class. As this is a new brand with lofty standards, it easily separates itself from other older brands in this hotel niche without an added price to the guest. I’m excited to be involved in future My Place locations."
